Kindness Citizen of the Year
The Kindness Citizen of the Year is co-sponsored by Quinte Mall and Charm Diamond Centres. Anyone living in the Quinte area and over the age of 18, who has touched you by their kindness, can be nominated.
Nomination Forms are available online, in the Intelligencer, Trentonian, County Weekly News, Community Press, or at Guest Services in Quinte Mall.
Nominations can be dropped off or emailed to Quinte Mall (qteservice@primarisreit.com) or to varak96@gmail.com. All nominations received are entered in a random draw and the winner will be drawn at the conclusion of VARAK week.
The winner’s name will be added to digital display screens in locations throughout Quinte Mall and the winner will receive an award and gifts in recognition of their kindness. Remember, any act of kindness no matter how small truly shows there are Angels among us.

Congratulations to Margie Robb
Winner of the 2024 Kindness Citizen of the Year
The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program along with Quinte Mall and Charm Diamond Centres is proud to announce that Margie Robb of Belleville is Quinte’s Kindness Citizen of the year. Anyone who knows Margie can attest to the fact that she is one of the most thoughtful, kind, considerate and caring people that you will ever have the privilege of knowing.
Family and friends can also affirm that through good times and bad you can always count on Margie to be there for you and to offer a helping hand. Whether it’s to bring you food, drive you a medical appointment or to take you to out of town for cancer treatments, Margie is the first to offer to help. Margie also has the gift of humour and can support you by taking your mind off of your problems with her quick wit and charm which is truly one of her most endearing qualities.
For the past 28 years Margie has been a member of the ViolenceAwareness and Random Acts of Kindness Committee. She has assisted with all aspects of the Program from organizing and fundraising, to carrying out all the activities of the VARAK week including distributing blue ribbon donation boxes, decorating the downtown core with blue ribbons and participating on the Kindness Crews.
In addition, for many years Margie also volunteered with the Christmas Sharing Program where she used her welcoming demeanour to make families and individuals in need more comfortable during the interview process. Margie also delivered Christmas Food Baskets, raised money through fundraising and assisted with organizing the Making Strides for Christmas Sharing Annual Walkathon.
Prior to Margie’s retirement from Quinte Health Care she worked in the X-ray Department, the Maintenance Department and the Children’s Treatment Centre. Co-workers and patients alike remember Margie for her warmth and caring nature.
This community is clearly a better place to live because of people like Margie Robb and the Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program is absolutely thrilled to honour Margie with this prestigious and well deserved award.
