Mark Fyke Memorial Golf Tournament
Since 1996 an Annual Golf Tournament has been held in Memory of Mark Fyke. In the beginning the tournament was just family and friends getting together for a round of golf in memory of Mark. But today this Tournament is the main fundraiser for the Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program with all proceeds supporting our Elementary and High School Programs as well as other activities of the VARAK Week, which is held each year in March.
The format of the Tournament is best ball with a twist. Along with the traditional holes of closest to the Pin and longest drive, we have a few surprizes such as teeing off with a marshmallow or putting with your driver. The Tournament is not so much about skill as it is all about fun!
About the Tournaments
The Tournament is held the second week in September at Nine Golf (formerly Bayview Golf Course) on Highway 2 and includes a lunch which is primarily sponsored by Gilmour’s Meat Shop and Deli in Rossmore. Each golfer is entitled to a door prize and in addition, there are draw prizes and a live auction.
It’s an enjoyable afternoon, which accounts for the fact that many of our golfers have come to every tournament since 1996. Their loyalty and the generosity of this community has made this tournament one of the longest standing Golf Tournaments in the Region. Many thanks to all of the hole sponsors and businesses who donate prizes in support of this tournament.

At the conclusion of the Tournament the winning team is presented with the prestigious green jacket symbolizing the “Masters Tournament”.
